Local government elections launch

THE LABOUR group in Oldham never wait for an election before we start campaigning. Canvassing, door knocking, leafleting is something we enjoy and is our duty to do all year round.

Labour local government launch

To achieve success or to ensure that what Labour is doing locally is of benefit to our residents, it is important that communication is ongoing.

Along with Jean Stretton, Leader of Oldham Council, my colleague Debbie Abrahams, Member of Parliament for Oldham East and Saddleworth we officially launched our campaign for the local elections, due to take place on the 3rd of May 2018.

We reflected on the contributions our colleagues who had recently passed had made to Oldham, and reiterated that we bring hope for people at a time when national policy is having a huge impact on the lives of so many.

The room was filled with Councillors, candidates and members of the Labour party. After hearing from myself, Jean and Debbie we visited neighbourhoods letting our residents know the difference Labour can make to their lives locally and what we could achieve nationally.
